Matrix Rising 2021

Hand Painted Cloth Mask

This painting represents one my signature styles established when I was a student of Painting at Syracuse University/

My (C) NeoAfro/Afroneo style and themes stem from the Weast African / Diaspora African Ameican Orisa Tradition. My work also encompasses Traditional Drum Making, performing and teaching over 45 years to date in 2021.

The above painting is inspired by one of the European Master Impressionist Artists of the Modern Art era "Seurat". His Pointillism style of painting is one of my favorites that i have studied for decades. I attended the Iconic Modern Art Masters Exhibition held at the Guggenheim Museum  in NYC in the late 90's. My first works in this style were using the Rapidograph Technical Drawing Pen. I worked almost exclusively in pen and Ink at the time. The Mask above is painted with Tulip Fabric Paints which has a fine point nozzle on a squeeze tube.... so it is like drawing. Matrix Rising refers to the eternal Earth "Onile". the Fire, the Water and the steam that rises as the Earth continuously reforms itself. The Matrix Rising theme is about 4 decades old in my work...

"Black Art" is not a Genre so to speak. Black Art is a Socially based Expressionist Movement that is Pan'Artistic.

The Black Arts Movement started during The Works Progress Administration (WPA; renamed in 1939 as the Work Projects Administration) was an American New Deal Agency employing millions of job-seekers (mostly men who were not formally educated) to carry out public works PUBLIC WORKS projects,[ including the construction of public buildings and roads. It was established on May 6, 1935, by presidential order, as a key part of the Second New Deal

Today more than ever, African American Artists have a choice whether to identify as Black Artists or just Artists because the culture of African Americans is diverse and connected to Global Culture which is a new frontier.

Black Art has never changed it's orientation which keeps it indigenous. In my case. My Art is developed over multiple decades so i relate across Borders without dropping my community oriented work because i have always been both Community based as well as an Independent Agent for my Art and services in the so called main stream. I fond out as most do historically tat I can earn a living easier if I am broad based in the studio as well as in the Education / Business arena.

Black Art is defined as Art of The Black Experience
